Congratulations to the Jesuit Chamber Singers for earning a Gold
rating at the Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim this weekend!
They received Second Place overall in the Men’s Chamber Choir
Division and were the highest scoring Men’s Chamber Choir from
North America at the competition. They also received the
Adjudicator Award, one of only three out 50 choirs to receive the
award and have been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall!
Alejandro Báez, S.J. is a Jesuit of the California Province. He
graduated with bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from St. John’s
Seminary College and a master’s degree in Music Education at New
York University, where he concentrates on vocal performance and
choral/instrumental conducting. He has a teaching license in the
State of New York and California. Alejandro has also pursued his
musical education at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the
Julliard School of Music and Westminster Choir College of Rider
University.
Ms. Leah C. Heine has served as the Director of Choral Music at
Jesuit High School since 2005. Ms. Heine earned her
Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from San Diego State
University, and is currently completing her Master’s Degree in
Education at the University of San Francisco. Ms. Heine’s studies
include a broad musical curriculum – piano performance, music
theory, music history, choral conducting and music pedagogy. She
has also performed in a wide variety of ensembles, both
instrumental and choral. In addition to playing the piano
and singing Ms.
Julian Climaco, S.J. entered the Society of Jesus in 2004 and is
currently in his third year of teaching theology and choral music
at Jesuit High School. A classically trained pianist and
vocalist, Julian has served as music director, pianist, and
chorister for several music ensembles in the Greater Los Angeles
Area, San Francisco, and New York City.
