After graduating from UC Davis with a double major in history and political science, Mr. Carmazzi worked in state government for 2 years. He began his teaching and coaching career at Jesuit in 1977; he has taught World History, American History and Government in the department. For the last 23 years, he has taught AP U.S. Government for seniors. His students have regularly achieved a 90% or higher  pass rate on the AP exam. Currently, he is also teaching U.S. Government for seniors. His government classes place a strong emphasis on discussion of current events at the state, national and international level. 

Mr. Carmazzi has taught Driver Training at Jesuit with Ross Evans for the last 7 years; he previously taught driver training in the Elk Grove School District. He is available for behind the wheel instruction year round. Go to the Drivers Education link for more information about driver training.

Driver’s Training – offered throughout the year

Driver Training is the “behind the wheel” portion of learning to drive. Students spend a minimum of six hours with a DMV licensed driving instructor in a car equipped with dual brakes for safety.  Once you have completed driver education, you will need to enroll in a driver training program. Jesuit offers a Driver’s Training program throughout the year with two licensed instructors who have more than 10 years experience.

Driver’s Education – Summer Class

Completion of a California drivers education course is required prior to obtaining your learner’s permit, and ultimately receiving your California drivers license.  Students will learn the basic skills of driving and the California Vehicle Code.  This course fulfills the state requirement of 30 hours of classroom instruction to qualify for a driver’s license and is only offered during Summer School.  When enrolling for summer school, please remember that all students are required to attend the full 30 hours.  This course does not include the behind-the-wheel instruction.  More information regarding this summer school class will be posted after April 1 on the summer school site.
