Jesuit to face Strake Jesuit of Texas in tourney title finale

Two parochial basketball powers will meet tonight for the championship of the 38th Annual Father Barry Christmas Classic tournament at Jesuit High School in Carmichael.
Host Jesuit will play Strake Jesuit of Houston, Texas, in the 6:30 p.m. final, the last of four games on the day.
Strake Jesuit is led by college scholarship signees John Gillon (Arkansas-Little Rock) and Rasheed Sulaimon (Duke).
Gillon had 38 points and Salaimon 26 in Friday’s 87-73 semifinal
win over Sheldon.
Parker Uu had 25 points and Bryce Pressley 18 in leading host
Jesuit to a 74-64 win over Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland, the two-time
defending CIF Northern California Regional Division III champion.
Jesuit and Strake Jesuit are both members of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association, two of 58 Jesuit high schools across the United States.
The two teams met in the Father Barry tournament championship game in 2008 when Strake Jesuit came away with the win.
In other games today: Bishop Manogue of Reno Nevada plays St. Ignatius of San Francisco at 2 p.m.; Eisenhower of Rialto plays Oakland Tech at 3:30 p.m. and Bishop O’Dowd plays Sheldon at 5 p.m.
In other games played last night, Eisenhower beat Bishop Manogue 72-57 and Oakland Tech downed St. Ignatius 59-52.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and children.
