Oregon State announced Thursday the signing of 12 players for the 2013 season, perhaps the most balanced class to enter OSU, associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Marty Lees said.

Dennis Banks will join the Beavers from California’s Canyon Springs High School, where he most recently earned all-league honors as a junior where he batted .410 with 10 doubles, three triples and 12 runs batted in. He’s lettered all three years at the school, first earning all-league honors as a sophomore.
Clay Bauer is one of two Beavers who will join the program from the junior college ranks. He currently plays at the College of San Mateo after lettering at Livermore High School. He was selected in the 48th round of the most recent Major League Baseball Draft by Colorado after going 6-2 with a 2.18 earned run average, good for third-best in his league. He was named all-conference and All-Northern California after last season, his freshman year.
Jerad Casper will join the program from junior college after playing the 2011 season for Bellevue College. He was a second-team all-North region selection in the infield and first-team league for defense. He batted .297 with 34 RBI last season, a year removed from a three-time all-league career at Tahoma High School. He batted .507 with 13 home runs his senior season.
Gabe Clark hails from John W. North High School, where he has lettered three season, most recently earning all-league honors as well as being named most valuable player in his area. He batted .425 as a junior, finishing with five home runs, 13 doubles, nine stolen bases and 32 RBI. He was second-team all-league both his sophomore and junior years.
Max Engelbrekt is a 6-foot-4 left-handed pitcher from Seattle’s Bishop Blanchet High School. He was a first-team All-Metro selection as a junior after going 8-1 with a 0.57 earned run average. He posted seven complete games and struck out 85 in 61 innings. He was also first-team All-Metro and honorable mention all-state after going 7-2 as a sophomore.
Mason Felt, a fellow left-handed pitcher, posted an 11-1 record his junior year, his first at Hebron Christian Academy after two years at Mill Creek High School. The No. 22 prospect in the state of Georgia, he was all-state last season where he posted a 1.50 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 70 innings. Like Engelbrekt, he is tall, standing at 6-foot-3.
Logan Frandsen plays his high school baseball at Las Lomas and has lettered three for three seasons. He was an all-league first teamer and second-team All-East Bay region honoree last season after batting .410 with three home runs, two doubles, six stolen bases and 17 RBI. He hit .360 the previous season with two home runs.
Zach Green is a former member of the USA Baseball 16U National Team and attends Jesuit High School, the same school as current Beavers Danny Hayes and Dan Child and former Beaver Andrew Susac. He has earned first-team all-league honors both his sophomore and junior seasons at Jesuit. He was first-team All-Metro as a junior after batting .438 with seven home runs, 10 doubles and 33 RBI.
Dylan LaVelle is rated as the No. 91 high school player in the nation by Baseball America. He’s also the No. 1 high school player in the Pacific Northwest by Baseball Northwest after earning all-state honors at the 4A level in 2011. He attends Lake Stevens High School, the same as former Beaver Mitch Canham.
Marty Luckenbach is a 6-foot-6 right-handed pitcher from Woodinville High School. Baseball Northwest rates him as the No. 3 high school player in Washington and he went 4-1 his junior season to earn KingCo honorable mention honors. He struck out 43 in 46 innings en route to a 1.03 ERA.
Paul Martinez comes from Riverside’s Arlington High School. He has earned first-team all-league and scholar-athlete recognition in each of his last two seasons. As a junior, he batted .418 with two home runs, 11 doubles and 17 RBI. As a sophomore, he hit .333 with four doubles, seven stolen bases and 25 RBI.
Andrew Moore attends North Eugene High School where he has been named State Pitcher of the Year both as a sophomore and a junior. He has earned all-state honors the last seasons and is a three-time all-league honoree. He is rated as the No. 5 player in Oregon by Baseball Northwest. He went 9-2 with a 0.53 ERA as a junior and threw consecutive no hitters to start the league season.
