Jesuit High School is hosting its 44th annual Holiday Food Drive.

It’s a long-standing tradition to help families in need.

Every year, students look forward to donating and delivering canned goods to 700 families.

The plan is to deliver 60,000 pounds of food to Standford Settlement Community Center in Sacramento.

So far, students have collected 30,000 pounds of food, but they expect to reach their goal by 8:30 this morning.

Some students said they donated anywhere from 25 to 200 pounds each.

School officials said in the tough economy, some families were only able to bring one can, but everything helps.

The community can help Jesuit students’ efforts by bringing some cans by the school before 9 a.m. today.

Jesuit High School is located at 1200 Jacob Lane in Carmichael.
