If there is one Sacramento-area high school basketball team that has been a top contender almost every season, the Jesuit Marauders are usually in the conversation.
During the last five of seven season, the Carmichael school earned winning records and playoff appearances, including Sac-Joaquin Section titles during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
Jesuit advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section finals last season but were defeated by the Sheldon Huskies for the section title. This season the Marauders are ranked No. 1 in the area by The Sacramento Bee; Delta River League rival Sheldon is No. 2.
Jesuit head coach Greg Harcos and senior guards Bryce Pressley and Joey Thomas shared their thoughts with Carmichael Patch on the upcoming big games, including Friday against Sheldon and Dec. 21 against Christian Brothers in the annual Holy Court game, and the outlook for the rest of the season. Harcos also talked about Jesuit’s tradition of dominance and keeping up its winning ways.
