Algebra I
June 11 - July 19: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Algebra 1 is the first course in the Common Core Traditional
Pathway for High School Mathematics. This comprehensive course
emphasizes equation-solving procedures, understanding and
graphing functions, and problem-solving strategies. Major topics
include equations, inequalities, systems, linear and quadratic
functions, exponents, polynomials and factoring, and data
analysis and probability. This course is recommended for students
who have strong fundamental math skills and a desire to
accelerate in mathematics.

Algebra II
June 11 - July 19: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Algebra 2 is the third course in the Common Core Traditional
Pathway. Major topics include functions and how to build them,
modeling with linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic,
radical and rational functions, basic trigonometry, series and
sequences, and statistics and probability.
Jesuit Students: This course is designed to remediate and
cannot be taken by Jesuit students for advancement to
Precalculus. Jesuit students must obtain prior department
approval.
Non-Jesuit students: Completion of Algebra I and Geometry OR
Integrated Math 1 and 2. Please be sure to consult
with the Academic Counselors at your school to be sure that this
course is a good fit for you and that they will accept our
credits.

Geometry XL
June 11 - July 19: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Geometry XL is the second course in the Common Core Traditional
Pathway, developed for students who would benefit from a Geometry
course that moves at a faster pace with more challenging problems
than the regular course. The course has the same goals and
objectives as the full-year course of Geometry XL. Content
includes all topics from Geometry as well as additional emphasis
on formal deductive proof, applications to geometric figures,
construction and inductive reasoning. Grade of A in Algebra I or
Integrated Math 1 is a prerequisite for this course.
Pre-requisite:
Jesuit students: Sophomore standing in the Fall. Jesuit students
must obtain prior Math Department Approval. Incoming Freshmen
students may not register for this course without taking
the Challenge Exam and prior approval from the Math
Department.
Non-Jesuit students: Successful completion of Algebra I OR
Integrated Math 1 with a grade of A or
better. Please be sure to consult with the Academic
Counselors at your school to be sure that this course is a good
fit for you and that they will accept our credits.

Pre-Calculus
June 11 - July 19: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
This 6-week course prepares students for Calculus by introducing
and reinforcing algebraic skills required for success in that
course. The first three weeks will focus on simplifying
expressions, solving equations and inequalities, functions,
graphing, transformations, higher degree polynomial functions,
and inverse functions. The last three weeks will focus on
transcendental functions (exponential and logarithmic) and
trigonometry. Students will learn and apply fundamental
identities and the Unit Circle to a variety of problems, apply
transformations to graph trigonometric functions. Building upon
that, students will be expected to apply other trigonometric
identities (addition/subtraction, double & half angle formulas,
sum-to-product, and product-to-sum) to solve a variety of
problems. The course concludes with inverse trig functions,
applying the laws of sines and cosines, vectors, and representing
complex numbers in trigonometric form.
Pre-Requisites for Jesuit Students: Open to current 11th-grade
students earning an A in regular Algebra 2 or B in Algebra 2H and
subject to instructor approval. The course may also be taken to
remediate a Pre-Calculus grade earned during the regular academic
year.
Pre-Requisites for Non-Jesuit Students: Must have successfully
completed Algebra 2 or Integrated Math 1, 2, and 3. Please be
sure to consult with the Academic Counselors at your school to be
sure that this course is a good fit for you and that they will
accept our credits.
