Attendees may use an American Express, Discover, Mastercard or Visa card. The credit card information and bidder number will be securely stored electronically.
Attendees may accumulate items, raffle tickets, etc. throughout the evening. On the evening of the event, attendees may pay by credit card, check or cash at check-out in the Gym lobby. Any charges not paid for by check or with cash will be charged to the attendee’s credit card on the first business day following the auction.
All sales are final. Items are not interchangeable, transferable, or returnable, nor may they be exchanged for cash. All items must be removed from the Gala & PACE Auction and will be distributed upon payment and checkout. Large or cumbersome items may be picked up on the day (Sunday) following the auction, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in Brebeuf Hall Boardroom located on Jacob Lane.
Our donors have graciously donated homes, cabins and other valuable items for your pleasure. Kindly contact the donor within two weeks after the auction to make reservations or arrangements for a mutual date. Also, kindly leave the homes/cabins in an orderly condition; otherwise a cleaning fee may be assessed.
Donations cannot be guaranteed beyond one year of the auction or the date printed on the certificate. We have no authority to make exceptions.
For federal income tax purposes, the amount of your contribution that is tax deductible is limited to the excess of the total amount paid for items over the estimated fair market value of those items as shown on your receipt. The fair market value of a Gala & Auction ticket is listed on your receipt.
We accept proxy bids on items from friends of Jesuit High School who are unable to attend the live auction by contacting the Advancement Office by Friday, March 22, 2109 at Noon.
Did I Win?
Pick-up is available the night of the Auction after 9:00 p.m. in the Barry Gym. Additional pick-up times are Sunday, March 24 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or anytime the following Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Brebeuf Hall (at the front of the school). If you are not present on the evening of the Gala and you are the winning bidder of an item in the Silent Auction, you have one week to coordinate picking up your winning items.
Our Live Auction features several group bidding opportunities. Consult with your friends, agree on what you’d like to bid for, how high you’re willing to go and what part each will pay toward the final amount. Now all you have to do is designate a head bidder and let it roll.
Sign-up parties will be available online at JHSGala19.gesture.com beginning Friday, March 15, 2019. You do not need to be present at the Gala to reserve your spot in a party. You will be required to submit a credit card to complete the process online. You will receive an email and/or text after the Gala asking for payment at which time you can choose to pay online via credit card or print out the receipt and pay with cash or check in the Advancement Office. If you do not submit payment for purchases, your card on file will be automatically charged per the general auction instructions after the Gala.
Silent Auction Rules:
The silent auction will be conducted entirely online through Gesture mobile bidding. You do not need to be present the event to bid on items in the Silent Auction. Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and auction services must be used within one year after the auction.
Bidding will open on Friday, March 15, 2019 and close prior to the start of the Live Auction at 7:30 p.m. on the evening of March 23, 2019.
If you are not present on the evening of the Gala and you are the winning bidder of an item in the Silent Auction, you have one week to coordinate picking up your winning item.
Please pre-register atJHSGala19.gesture.com and fully charge your mobile device if you are attending the Gala event. We are not responsible for any technical difficulties you may have during the bidding process. You are welcome to seek help from a Gesture staff person on site with any Gesture site specific issues you may have.
Register Your Cell Phone at The Gala:
To place bids on auction items or to make a donation, register with a Gesture Pro member in GRAY. Gesture staff members will be present at the event to be your “personal shopper” if you do not prefer to bid via your cell phone/tablet.
Bid via SMARTPHONE:
Click the BLUE link in your welcome text message and it will take you to your personal bidding page. Click on an item you would like to bid on. The Gesture system prepopulates with the next minimum bid so all you have to do is push BID. If you’d like to go higher just enter a new amount and push BID. To have the Gesture system automatically bid for you to a designated amount, please select AUTO and enter a higher amount. The system will bid for you incrementally up until your designated amount only if someone bids against you.
Bid via TEXT:
To see current bid, reply to your welcome text and simply text the 3-digit item number. Example: “102”, then hit send. Then, text the 3-digit item number and amount you would like to bid. No dollar signs ($) needed. Example: “102 300”, then hit send. You place a $300 bid on item number 102.
Live Auction Rules:
The Live Auction will begin during dinner on the day of the auction and continue without interruption until all items have been auctioned.
To participate in the live auction and receive an auction paddle, you will need to put a credit card on file with the Auction team. You will be able to pay for your purchases per the instructions as previously stated via cash, check, or charge.
