Our Lady of Guadalupe Liturgy
Thursday, December 12, 9:35 a.m.
Our Jesuit Community of faculty, staff, and all students will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas, with Mass on Thursday, December 12, in the Barry Gym, beginning at 9:35 a.m. The presider will be Fr. Alex Llanera, S.J., who is a graduate of Jesuit High School. Jesuit’s La Raza Club is part of the planning of this Mass. La Raza will tell the story of a humble peasant, Juan Diego, and his encounter with Mary.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops reminds us of the importance of this feast for the Church:
“As we enter the Advent season and Christmas approaches, we are reminded of the unique role and importance of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a unifier and peacebuilder for communities. We honor her role as protectress of families, including those families separated and far from home,” stated Bishop Joe S. Vásquez, Bishop of Austin, Texas, and Chairman of the USCCB Committee on Migration.
Family and friends are welcome to join us on December 12 as we remember our families and ask for their protection. We also honor the accomplishments, hopes, fears, and needs of all families who have come to the U.S. seeking a better life.
Students are required to wear dress attire, as defined in the student dress code.
