Jesuit traveled to Folsom to take on the 0-1 Bulldogs for the season opener for the Marauders.  An unseasonably mild night for late August was a nice change from the conditions the year before when the game had to be moved to Folsom due to record high heat.  Jesuit was hot early as they received the ball to open the game and started their drive from the Jesuit 20 yard line.  Jesuit moved the ball to midfield with a tough run for 11 yards by Jackson Canaan and a penalty on Folsom.  After a sack by Folsom Jesuit was pushed back to the Jesuit 38 yard line.  Hank Harvego dropped back to pass and after scrambling found Connor McIntee down the sideline for a 55 yard completion that resulted in first and goal at the five.  On the next play Canaan pushed it in for a touchdown.  Jesuit 7 – Folsom 0 with 8:14 left in the first quarter.  Folsom received the kick-off and started their drive at the Folsom 35.  After two runs by Folsom moved them to the Folsom 48 yard line the Folsom offense hit on their first big play of the game.  Folsom scored on a 52 yard pass for a touchdown.  Jesuit 7 – Folsom 7 with 7:24 left in the first quarter.  Jesuit took over after the kickoff from their 20 yard line.  Jesuit put together their longest sustained drive of the game.  Solid runs by Canaan, Harvego, and Cade Cunningham and a pass completion to Laiatu Latu gave Jesuit a first down at the Folsom 11 yard line.  Unfortunately, Jesuit was not able to convert and turned the ball over on downs at the Folsom two yard line.  The first quarter ended with the score Jesuit 7 – Folsom 7.

Unfortunately for Jesuit the second quarter was completely dominated by Folsom.  Jesuit’s offense struggled with no first downs in the quarter and one turnover.  Folsom scored four touchdowns in the quarter with the final score coming with just 13 seconds left until halftime.  Halftime score, Jesuit 7 – Folsom 34.

To start the second half Folsom was set to receive the kick-off and showed more of their explosiveness by returning the kick 95 yards for a touchdown.  Jesuit 7 – Folsom 41 with 11:48 left in the third quarter.  Jesuit showed some fight and drove the ball behind tough runs by Cunningham and a 10 yard completion to Latu.  The drive was turned over on downs and Folsom went back to work.  On fourth down Folsom went for it and completed a 47 yard pass to set-up first and goal.  The defense stiffened behind the tough tackling of Cade Brownholtz and Latu and held Folsom to a field goal.  The third quarter ended with the score Jesuit 7 – Folsom 44.

Folsom scored one more touchdown in the fourth quarter on a four yard pass.  Jesuit 7 – Folsom 51.  Daniel Susac came in for his first action at quarterback on the season.  He led a drive down the field with a nice pass to Akili Bonner for 20 yards.  On fourth down from the 23 yard line of Folsom, Susac scrambled and threw a ball up that Cooper Shults was able to pull down in traffic for a touchdown to end the scoring on the night.

Final Score – Jesuit 14 – Folsom 51
