What are the minimum service requirements?

Minimum requirements vary by year. Please see this document for a summary of requirements.

How do I log and track my service?

All service is logged and tracked through the student’s MobileServe account. An in-person orientation to this platform took place in late April and early May 2018 for all members of the Classes of 2020 and 2021 who were enrolled at JHS at the time. If you missed your orientation and/or have questions, contact Ms. Brabec in the Christian Service Office (sara.brabec@jesuithighschool.org).

Are we still using paper forms to track service?

No, we are no longer using or accepting paper forms. All service will be tracked through the student’s MobileServe account.

Does MobileServe have an app?

Yes. MobileServe has an app for both Apple and Android. Simply search for it in the App Store. The app is not required for tracking service. You can also track your service through MobileServe’s website on a web browser (Google Chrome recommended for an optimized experience).

Where can I complete service?

Your service must always be completed with an organization and supervised by someone who is not a relative. Please see this regularly updated list of pre-approved agencies. If you’d like to serve somewhere that’s not on the list, please use this form to submit a request. Remember that all service towards your graded requirement must be completed as direct service with people experiencing hunger, homelessness, poverty, old age, or a disability. Up to 50% of the service you complete may be completed with organizations that promote environmental justice.

How do I receive a grade for Christian Service?

The staff in the Christian Service Office will verify your service logs submitted via MobileServe and issue you a Pass/Fail grade based on the successful completion and tracking of your service by the established deadlines.

How can the Christian Service Department track my service?

If you are a continuing member (i.e., not a transfer student) of the Class of 2020 or 2021, you received an email from “Team MobileServe” in late April or May 2018. That email contained a link for you to set up a MobileServe account. This link would have also automatically assigned you to the Jesuit High School MobileServe Organization and your graduating class’ specific sub-organization. It is through membership in those groups that the Christian Service Department can track your service. If you have registered for MobileServe without joining the sub-org (e.g., “Class of 2020,” “Class of 2021”), we will not be able to see and give you credit for your service. If you are a transfer student, or if you are having issues with setting up MobileServe, please contact the Christian Service Office.

How do I register for MobileServe?

There are two ways to do this. The easiest way is to search your inbox for your email from “Team MobileServe” and follow the instructions within that email.

The second option is to do the following:

Open the MobileServe app or go to app.mobileserve.com and select “Sign Up.”

Enter your name, birthday, student.jhs.net email address, and create a password. Enter “Jesuit High School” in the the Employer / School box. Select “Next.”

Add an optional photo to your profile and select “Next” or leave the account without a photo and select “Skip.”

Enter the 6-digit code corresponding to your class year (see the “About” tab in your Christian Service Google Classroom Page or the Christian Service Office for this code; due to the paid nature of this information, we cannot publish it on the open website).  

When prompted, select “Join.”

I registered for MobileServe, but the Christian Service Office told me they can’t see my service. What’s going on?

It is likely that you did not join/get added to your class’ sub-organization within MobileServe. Let’s check. From a web browser (not from the MobileServe app), go to https://app.mobileserve.com/. Click on “Settings.” At the top of the page, click on the tab that says “Organizations.” On that page, you should see listed “Class of 202X.” If you do, you’re all set to track service. If you’re still having an issue, contact the Christian Service Office. If you don’t see any organizations listed, enter the 6-digit code that corresponds to your class. It is posted under the “About” tab in your Christian Service Google Classroom Class and is also available in the Christian Service Office. Due to the nature of this information (it is part of a paid service), we cannot post the code on the open website.

I’m not sure if I’m part of my class’ sub-org. How can I check?

From a web browser (not from the MobileServe app), go to https://app.mobileserve.com/. How should I verify service on MobileServe?

You have two options:

For purposes of simplicity and transparency, the preferred method of verifying your service within MobileServe is to enter your supervisor’s name and email address in MobileServe and have her/him confirm your service over email.

If, for some reason, email verification is not a viable option at your service placement, you may also do both of the following at the time of service:

Obtain your supervisor’s (legible) signature within the MobileServe platform (sign on the screen of your touch-screen mobile device)

AND geo-verify your service by attaching your location to your service log within the MobileServe platform.

My supervisor has approved my service, but it is not yet listed as “approved” (it still shows as “pending”). What’s going on?

Once your supervisor verifies your service, someone from the Christian Service Office will manually approve your service log. At that point, it is officially documented as part of your grade.

How can I see progress towards my required service?

Sign into MobileServe and click on “Activity.” There you will be able to see your progress towards your Christian Service goal, as well as the status of all of your service logs. 

What is the number shown on the front screen of my/my student’s MobileServe account?

The number shown here is the number of hours you or your student has logged in MobileServe. It does not necessarily reflect the hours your son has actually served, had verified, or been approved for. (For example, a student could create a log for service that has not taken place and the hours would show up in the total listed on the front screen.)

We realize this is confusing and have addressed the issue with MobileServe. To check on the number of hours that have been approved (counted towards the student’s grade), head to the “Activity” tab and look for log items with a green check mark next to them.
