Jesuit Hosts Reunion Weekend & Homecoming BBQ
Jesuit High School was thrilled to welcome back the classes of 1968, ’78, ’88,’98, and ’08 for Alumni Weekend, which took place on Oct. 12-14. Each of those classes had their own reunion on Saturday night, with other events taking place throughout the weekend for alums of any class that wanted to participate. Over 200 alums joined us throughout the weekend, and each one of them seemed to enjoy the festivities.
We started the weekend by taking the class of 1968 on a tour of Jesuit High School, as several members of the class had not seen campus since their graduation. Much has happened on campus in the last few years, so witnessing 50 years of development in one afternoon was an eye-popping experience.
Later that evening, alums of all years gathered on the bluff outside of Alumni Hall, where they enjoyed burgers and beers while connecting with familiar faces. Alums took tours, peeked into classrooms, and helped set the stage for a great weekend.
Saturday afternoon was the biggest event: the Homecoming BBQ and football game. Alums of all years brought their families and their appetites for a tremendous BBQ lunch with drinks and family fun. Current students and families also joined in the fun. The event was followed by Saturday’s football game against Davis, which many alumni attended.
Each of the honored classes had their own events on Saturday night, including the class of 1968 having dinner and a Golden Diploma ceremony in the Harris Center and the class of 1998 meeting at Malt and Mash downtown, which is owned by Trevor Shults ’98.
The Alumni Mass on Sunday was the perfect ending to a successful weekend, as Rev. John P. McGarry, S.J. presided and Rev. Edwin Harris, S.J. provided the homily. We were blessed to have the Jesuit High School Liturgy Choir provide music, with Ed Trafton ‘84 playing piano.
