Athletic Conditioning Will Resume This Week
Student-Athletes must fill out inquiry form by 6 pm Wednesday, Sept 2
Students, I hope that this message finds you well and that all of you have had a successful start to the school year. It is very important that your hard work continues in the classroom throughout this new school year with new challenges.
During the summer, we were able to operate athletics in a limited capacity with approval from the county health officials. As summer transitioned to the start of school and academic instruction, the county scaled back on allowing conditioning to continue. Given the start of classes and the poor air quality in the area, it would have been extremely hard for us to have operated over the last few weeks anyway.
I am now pleased to share that on August 28, Sacramento County Public Health provided additional detail and guidance on resuming sports conditioning while class instruction is occurring. These guidelines again are now allowing conditioning to occur on campus. The timing of this is great and we are really excited to engage with our student-athletes back on campus. The roll-out of this is going to take time and we are hopeful to get all of our teams and levels on campus in some capacity. There are going to be some factors that are out of our control, but we will do our best to accommodate all of our student-athletes.
Each student is going to have to sign up for a specific sports pod by 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 2 to participate for the fall semester. We highly encourage all of our student athletes to sign up for their traditional “Fall” sport.
We will do our best to accommodate our dual-sport athletes. Unfortunately due to having to pod our athletes so we can properly contact trace, it is highly unlikely that we will have athletes participating in multiple sports. If we are able to make accommodations we will, but at this time that is yet to be determined.
Sign-ups will close at 6:00 pm on Wednesday with no exceptions so the Athletic Department has time to coordinate our plans to abide by the Sac County Youth Sports Guidelines.
Thank you for your patience with Jesuit Athletics during this time. We are working our hardest to get everyone on campus in a safe manner to allow our students to engage with each other and their coaches on campus.
Reminder – this is for the FALL CONDITIONING PODS only and not for the seasons of sports starting in December or any tryouts.
