HSPT Testing



  1. The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is required for every applicant applying to grade 9 & transfer applicants to grade 10. Please click on the link at the bottom of this page to register.
  2. The High School Placement Test (HSPT), is scheduled for two Saturdays, December 2nd or December 16th 2017 at 8:00 a.m. at Jesuit High School. The cost of the exam is $50.00.
  3. Please be sure to do your very best on this examination.  The results will not only be used as a part of our applicant evaluation but will also significantly influence course and track placement at Jesuit.
  4. The High School Placement Test is structured as follows:


  • Verbal Skills – 18 minutes – 60 questions assessing a variety of skills, including verbal analogy, verbal classification, logical reasoning, and the recognition and usage of synonyms and antonyms. 
  • Quantitative Skills – 30 minutes – 52 questions on number and letter series, picture analogy, and picture classification.


  • Reading – 25 minutes – 62 questions testing major comprehension skills including: ability to remember important ideas and significant details, recognizing central thought or purpose, making logical inferences, and understanding vocabulary in context. 
  • Mathematics – 45 minutes – 64 questions evaluating computation, problem-solving skills, knowledge of important concepts, and ability to reason. 
  • Language – 25 minutes – 60 questions testing skills in grammar, spelling, syllabication, style, usage, and diction.

 5.  A few details about exam day:

  • Calculators are not allowed.
  • There is a $50 testing fee collected in the testing room. Checks should be made payable to Jesuit High School.
  • Students should get plenty of rest the night before and eat a good breakfast; they may dress in casual attire.
  • If your son requires accommodations for testing, you must submit all documentation (504 Plans or an IEP) prior to the date of his test.
