The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is required for every applicant applying to grade 9 & transfer applicants to grade 10. Please click on the link at the bottom of this page to register.
The High School Placement Test (HSPT), is scheduled for November 19, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. at Jesuit High School. A make-up date of Saturday, December 3 is scheduled for any conflicts. The cost of the exam is $50.00.
Please be sure to do your very best on this examination. The results will not only be used as a part of our applicant evaluation but will also significantly influence course and track placement at Jesuit.
The High School Placement Test is structured as follows:
Verbal Skills – 18 minutes – 60 questions assessing a variety of skills, including verbal analogy, verbal classification, logical reasoning, and the recognition and usage of synonyms and antonyms.
Quantitative Skills – 30 minutes – 52 questions on number and letter series, picture analogy, and picture classification.
Reading – 25 minutes – 62 questions testing major comprehension skills including: ability to remember important ideas and significant details, recognizing central thought or purpose, making logical inferences, and understanding vocabulary in context.
Mathematics – 45 minutes – 64 questions evaluating computation, problem-solving skills, knowledge of important concepts, and ability to reason.
Language – 25 minutes – 60 questions testing skills in grammar, spelling, syllabication, style, usage, and diction.
5. A few details about exam day:
Students are asked to report to the Fr. Barry Gymnasium no later than 7:45 a.m.
After brief introductions students will be escorted to their testing room where testing will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. and will end at approximately 12:30 p.m. Parents are invited to attend an information session with a student panel held in the Harris Center.The Information Session is only available on the main test date of November 19.
Calculators are not allowed.
There is a $50 testing fee collected in the testing room. Checks should be made payable to Jesuit High School.
Students should get plenty of rest the night before and eat a good breakfast; they may dress in casual attire.
If your son requires accommodations for testing, you must submit all documentation (504 Plans or an IEP) prior to November 11th.
