The JV Reds started off the New Year with a bang as they headed to Atwater this week to face the Falcons. Jesuit wasted no time and scored within the first three minutes when Joey Afsari sent a through ball to Jordan Anyimi who put it away. Afsari’s next assist came five minutes later when his pass to Alexander Maguire was put away with a pretty, left-footed shot. In the 14th minute, Sam Berry carried the ball from half in a foot race which brought the score 3-0. Atwater’s troubles continued as Ryan Young’s corner kick six minutes later was volleyed into the net by Anthony Alvarado. Afsari then scored his own off a well-placed free kick just outside the box. In the closing minutes of the half, Berry got his second as he again powered through the defense after yet another Afsari assist. The second half was equally as grim for Atwater. Minutes after the whistle Vincent Micheli lobbed a long, cross-field ball to Alvarado on the run, who then slotted it in. A pass from Oliver Black to Anyimi a minute later was easily put in. Anyimi then found Aaron Chou who sped past the defense and scored. Michael Rousch then found Maguire who quickly switched directions and shot, bringing the score to 10.  Afsari then scored his second goal on a back-heel shot, and Anyimi had his own back-heel pass to Afsari who tapped in his third goal. Afasri then returned the favor a minute later and passed it to Anyimi for his hat-trick.   Hopefully the Marauders can keep the scoring coming this week at home as they face two formidable opponents: Marin and Davis.
