Jesuit Sacramento: A Co-Divisional High School
1 School, 2 Divisions…Welcoming girls and boys starting in Fall 2027
Co-divisional is an innovative approach to learning and student development. Co-divisional means Jesuit High School Sacramento is one school featuring two academic divisions, a Boys’ Division and a Girls’ Division. This preserves the benefits of single-sex education while offering vibrant, integrated co-curricular experiences. The separation into two divisions makes this educational model different from a traditional co-ed school setting, where boys and girls are integrated in all aspects of their daily school life.
“This is a moment of transformation,” said President Chris Alling. “Guided by our Ignatian values and the pioneering spirit of our founders, we are shaping a future where innovation and tradition unite.”
Girls, both freshmen and transfers, will have the opportunity to attend Jesuit beginning with the 2027-2028 school year.
Forming Leaders for the World: The Jesuit Mission in Action
Jesuit alum and campus minister Adam McGrew ‘15 reflects on the school’s mission of cura personalis (care for the whole person) and how Jesuit education helps students discover their passions, cultivate their gifts, and grow into confident leaders. Through academic excellence, spiritual formation, and personal mentorship, Jesuit prepares students not only to succeed, but to serve as agents of change for God’s greater glory.
Securing the Future of Jesuit: Why Co-Divisional Matters
Board of Trustees Chair Kelly Brothers ’82 explains the long-term thinking behind the decision—one rooted in sustainability, excellence, and preparing Jesuit for the next generation. Drawing on statewide demographic trends following the Great Recession, he shares how fewer school-age students in the years ahead will impact schools across California, and why Jesuit is taking proactive steps now rather than reacting later. The board’s responsibility is not to focus on a single year—but to ensure Jesuit thrives five, 10, 20, and even 25 years into the future.
Jesuit’s Excellence Starts With Its Teachers
What makes Jesuit High School truly special? Chris Chandley ’93 shares why it starts with the teachers. From award-winning artists and published writers to coaches, musicians, and global scholars, Jesuit’s faculty brings remarkable depth, passion, and care into the classroom and beyond. This is the kind of environment where students are challenged, supported, and inspired every day by educators who model curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning.

Continuing Jesuit’s Mission — Strengthening Our Future
A Message from the Board of Trustees Chair Kelly Brothers ’82
Dear Marauder Family,
For more than 60 years, Jesuit High School Sacramento has remained true to its mission: forming young people of conscience, competence, and compassion. As we look to the future, we do so with the same purpose and faith, preparing to transition to a Co-Divisional model beginning in the 2027–28 school year.
This approach will preserve single-sex formation while expanding shared opportunities, ensuring Jesuit continues to thrive for generations to come.
Jesuit High School Sacramento Announces Historic Transition to Co-Divisional Education Model
Jesuit High School Sacramento, a cornerstone of Catholic education in the region for over six decades, proudly announces a bold and mission-driven evolution: beginning in Fall 2027, Jesuit Sacramento will welcome its first cohort of young women, becoming the only co-divisional high school in California.
This transformative decision, overwhelmingly approved by the Jesuit High School of Sacramento Board of Trustees, reflects a deep commitment to the school’s founding mission and a visionary response to the changing educational landscape. The new co-divisional model will feature two distinct academic divisions—a Boys Division and a Girls Division—preserving the benefits of single-sex education while offering vibrant, integrated co-curricular experiences.
