Placement Tests

Placement Tests
HSPT and Challenge Exams

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is a standardized test used by all Catholic Schools. Historically this has been one of the first steps for the applicant. However, for the 2021 Admissions Season, the HSPT will now take place after acceptance as a tool to assist with course placement rather than as part of the admissions process.

2021 HSPT will be in-person on the Jesuit Sacramento campus. Students will choose one test session.

Challenge Testing
Optional online exams for incoming Class of 2025 students only

If you feel your student does not belong in the traditional academic freshman placement, please indicate your interest in taking one or more Challenge Test(s) when you complete your Final Forms as part of your online registration process.

Below are the dates and subjects with Challenge Tests. Students must be signed up in Final Forms to be eligible to take any Challenge Test.

How we will use the HSPT for our new students in fall of 2021
This year the HSPT will be used as an assessment/placement tool

The admissions process for the Class of 2025 will not include the usual administration of the High School Placement Test (HSPT). With so much lingering uncertainty and stress for students amid the shifting educational climate from COVID-19, we do not want to place an additional burden on our prospective students or their families about taking a test that could affect admissions decisions. We want to respect the varied experience of school that our prospective students are having this year—many are still doing distance learning.
