The JV Red Soccer team’s second game of the season was a face-off with Rio Americano. In the 12th minute of the game, Cole Barrett’s speed could not be matched as he sped down the left side and easily put in the first goal of the game. Rio’s best chance of the half was shut down as keeper Pace Walder came up big with a one-on-one save.  Just before half, Chris Meyers found Cole Barrett who took the ball across the face of the goal, and then kicked it back across his body to beat the keeper. Ten minutes into the second half, Matthew Kahn had a pretty pass to Jack Maguire who, on the run, brought it down with two defenders on him and slotted it passed the keeper. This would prove to be the game winner, as Rio would have two penalty kicks called in their favor in the final eight minutes and scored on both kicks.   Final score: Marauders 3 Rio Americano 2.
