Parents: Please review the procedures listed below with your son and help him to complete the application process. Jesuit High School’s application process is completed online through SchoolAdmin. You will need to create a login and password before you gain access.
A complete application will consist of the following:
- Online Application for Admission & Fee
- Academic Record Report
- Pastor Recommendation Form (Optional)
- Principal/Counselor, English, and Math Recommendation Forms
- Writing Sample (Essay)
- Video Applicant Interview
- Tuition Assistance Forms (Optional)
- HSPT Exam

Because of the volume of applicants, we ask that you do not contact the Admissions Office to verify receipt of forms; simply log in and refer to your son’s admissions checklist. Please don’t hesitate to contact the admissions team (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions.

1. Application for Admission & Fee
Complete the online portion of your application for admission and make sure to hit the submit button when completed. After submitting, wait 24 hours for the application to process. After the waiting period, login and proceed to Step 2 (below). A $50 application fee can be paid online after submitting your application.
2. Academic Record Report
Please wait to email your school until your son’s semester grades have been posted.
We request that your son’s current school send us a transcript for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, and any standardized test results taken during those years. You will need to obtain the email address for the person responsible for your son’s academic record reports at his current school. This could be an office manager or Registrar. Email the Academic Record Report directly to that person. You only need to email this form to his current school as they should have his complete educational records from all schools he has attended.
3. Pastor/Minister/Faith Leader Recommendation Form (Optional)
Each applicant is encouraged but not required to send the online link to the recommendation form to his religious leader for verification of involvement. Applicants who are not currently active in their faith can submit an explanation letter in lieu of the Pastor/Minister/Faith Leader online recommendation, as to why they would choose to apply to a faith-based program, specifically Jesuit High School. This form can be completed by a Youth Group Minister or anyone who can attest to your son’s faith involvement. Jesuit High School welcomes families of all faiths; contributing to our belief that the diversity of our community lends itself to the fullest and engaging learning experience.
4. Principal/Counselor, English & Math Teacher Recommendation Forms
You will need to obtain the email addresses for the person responsible to complete the above forms for your son. Email the correct link to the appropriate person to complete by the due date listed.
5. Writing Sample (Essay)
All applicants are asked to respond to our writing prompt and upload their writing sample to their School Admin Portal. All submissions can be uploaded to your School Admin portal via your portal checklist.
Please submit a one-page writing sample (approximately 250-500 words) that answers the questions in the following prompt:
If money and distance were not factors, what existing work of art or culture would you most want to experience? For instance, maybe you’ve always wanted to go to India to see the Taj Mahal, or to Washington, D.C. to see the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. Or maybe you want to see your favorite musician, dancer or actor live, or eat at a world-famous restaurant nowhere near where you live.
To take this fantasy even further, you can pretend that time-travel is possible. What cultural or artistic work or event from the past — one that no longer exists — would you have wanted to experience?
6. Video Applicant Interview
Please submit a short video (60 to 90-seconds) that answers the following questions:
- What attributes and experiences do you imagine will make you successful at Jesuit High School?
- What does “Being a Man for Others” mean to you?
Don’t forget to introduce yourself at the beginning of the video and be creative! Learn more about this video and see samples»
7. Tuition Assistance Forms
Financial need is assessed independently of admission qualifications. We do not offer academic or athletic scholarships. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Billigmeier in the business office at (916) 480-2116. For more information, please visit: Financial Aid.
8. HSPT Exam
The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is a standardized test used by all Catholic Schools. Please sign-up for one of the two dates offered.
9. Additional Letters of Recommendation (Optional)
Each applicant has the right to submit additional letters of recommendation for the admissions committee to consider.
10. Parent / Guardian Letter (Optional)
The Parent/Guardian letter is an optional admissions checklist item that is available to families who would like to provide more insight into their son’s school experience in 7th and 8th grade. This is an opportunity to give context and perspective on a situation or circumstance that may come through in the application that you feel needs to be addressed in further detail. Submitting or not submitting this optional item has no bearing on your son’s admissions decision other than providing further information on your son’s middle school experience. Submissions can be made in the long form text box or uploaded as a word document.
