Drug Awareness and Overdose Prevention Program
Presented by Greater Grace Church and Pivot Sacramento
A South Sacramento overdose prevention initiative implements a comprehensive strategy centered on Narcan education and distribution. The one-day program includes 1) Parent Awareness Workshop designed to enhance recognition of drug use indicators, facilitate safety discussions, and provide access to critical resources, 2) Teen Drug Awareness session educates youth on the risks of laced substances, overdose prevention, and available support services, with targeted outreach to local schools, 3) Engaging partnering church leaders will be engaged to disseminate program information and integrate substance use awareness into their congregational frameworks, and 4) Community Members that live in the area.
This multifaceted approach strengthens community collaboration and equips stakeholders with essential tools for addressing substance use and overdose prevention.
What are you hoping to accomplish?
We are hoping to change the stigma about drug addiction, specifically once substance gets in your body, your brain is altered. The main purpose is to 1) equip parents with the knowledge and resources to help their children avoid or recovery from drug addiction, 2) equip churches with the information and tools, including access to these courses to prepare them to serve in their congregations, 3) work with our high rate of unhomed neighbor to prevent deaths from overdose, and 4) help teens to make a informed decision based on the science of drug addiction.
Our Project (four goals)
Conduct a one-day program includes a Parent Awareness Workshop designed to enhance recognition of drug use indicators, facilitate safety discussions, and provide access to critical resources. A Teen Drug Awareness session educates youth on the risks of laced substances, overdose prevention, and available support services, with targeted outreach to local schools. Additionally, our partnering church leaders will be engaged to disseminate program information and integrate substance use awareness into their congregational frameworks.
