Youth Heart Screening at Rio
Free Screening hosted by Kyle J. Taylor Foundation (KJTF) in collaboration with UC Davis Health and Project ADAM Sacramento
Register Now! Help Prevent SCA Risk in Children and Young Adults By Getting Screened
- One in 300 young people have a heart condition that puts them at risk for SCA
- #1 cause of death of student athletes
- #1 cause of death on school campuses
- 23,000 people under 18 are struck by SCA annually in the United States
Routine physicals miss about 85-90% of the issues that can cause SCA in children and young adults. An EKG is a quick, painless test that can detect heart issues that cannot be detected with a stethoscope. The screening should take about 40 minutes, and includes:
- Cardiac risk assessment
- EKG
- Physician review of results
- Echocardiograms will be available
