Safety Notice for Families in Light of National Walkout Rumors
Jesuit Aware of Regional Activity at State Capitol

News

We are aware of online posts and news reports in our region encouraging participation in a national “Day of No School” and a coordinated walkout today, January 30, 2026. These messages reference a planned student gathering at the California State Capitol, where students from multiple Sacramento‑area schools have indicated they may assemble during the late morning and early afternoon.

While Jesuit High School Sacramento is not aware of any planned participation by our community members, our priority remains to keep you informed and to focus on the safety and well‑being of every student entrusted to our care.

Jesuit Sacramento respects students’ rights to express their ideas and convictions. At the same time, we must maintain a safe and orderly learning environment. Families and students should be aware that leaving campus during the school day without permission from a parent or guardian will be recorded as an unexcused absence, in accordance with our attendance policies.

Faculty and staff will remain on campus throughout the school day and will follow established safety procedures. If any student leaves campus, families will be notified through our standard attendance protocols. While staff may take steps to support student safety when necessary, walkouts are not school‑sponsored activities, and employees are not permitted to organize, promote, or participate in them.

We encourage families to speak with their students about making safe, thoughtful decisions and to contact the school administration directly with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to keep our students safe.

With appreciation,

Michael Wood ‘99

Principal, Jesuit High School Sacramento
