Jesuit High School, Sacramento, is accepting applications for full-time Academic Support Center Learning Specialist, until filled.
Overview
The Academic Support Center Learning Specialist works with the Academic Support Center Director to provide tutoring, tracking, and monitoring of student progress throughout the school day. The Academic Support Center Learning Specialist is the primary tutor in the Academic Support Center and communicates with parents and teachers as needed to follow-up regarding student academic skills, trends, and assignments.
Responsibilities
Admissions Assistance for Students with Learning Differences
- Review documentation as needed for Admissions Director and Assistant Principal for Academics and Curriculum
- Talk to and send ASC information to inquiring parents regarding ASC services
- Share information about accommodations with Summer School Office about incoming ninth graders as it becomes available
- Meet with incoming ninth grade students and their parents in August to review and develop accommodation plans
- Share information regarding extended-time for College Board admissions exams and get necessary consent form/information
Identification of Students in Need of ASC/Student Support Services
- Communicate and consult with teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents regarding students suspected of having learning differences and or ADHD
- Refer students for outside assessments as needed; assist parents in the process as needed
- Administer assessments as needed for learning documentation
- Consult with outside assessors on behalf of students with signed confidentiality disclosures
- Facilitate distribution and collection of learning difference questionnaires with faculty for students in the process of educational evaluation
- Complete questionnaires for students with learning challenges who work in the ASC that are in the process of learning assessment
- Facilitate and give additional learning assessments if possible and as needed to enrich testing further
- Meet with students and parents after acquiring an educational assessment to review results and determine next steps
- Determine eligibility for Jesuit High School student accommodations from approved bank of accommodations
Coordinate ASC Program Services
- Read psycho-educational assessments, 504 plans, and IEPs to understand students’ unique learning needs
- Write Academic Support Plans (ASPs) for students in need of accommodation plans at Jesuit High School based on parent/student interviews, review of standardized testing, cumulative file review, and counselor/teacher input as needed
Caseload
Services for students with learning differences. Currently, there are 150 students with Academic Support Plans and 82 work in the ASC on a regular basis during FLEX.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Experience and/or academic coursework specific to students with learning differences
Position Details
- Compensation is based on education and experience and will be calculated/pro-rated based on these factors.
- This position is classified as a salaried, Exempt position
