Algebra I Review

June 9-June 25 OR June 28-July 15: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This course is designed for students who have completed a full year Algebra I course but need additional instruction in preparation for taking an accelerated or honors level course at Jesuit. The expectation is that students who successfully complete this course will demonstrate mastery of Algebra I concepts in line with those students taking accelerated Algebra 1 at Jesuit. Students will be assessed on a weekly basis and will take an exam similar in content and rigor to the year-end final exam in Algebra 1(XL).

JESUIT STUDENTS: Incoming freshmen may not register for this class without Department Approval. This course is aimed at incoming freshmen who require reinforcement of Algebra I skills in order to advance into Geometry that Fall. Permission to take this course is based upon the results of the Math challenge tests administered in April.

Format: In-Person

Cost: $400 plus $50 registration fee

College Application Workshop

Session 1: June 7-June 11 from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. OR 10:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Jesuit High School is offering a one-week college application course for rising Jesuit seniors.

This is a small class setting of 10:1, which means that each student will receive extensive instruction on tasks such as developing an individualized college application list, creating and refining a personal statement, navigating the college application process at JHS, filling out the Common App as well as going over the UC/CSU and other University Applications.

This course will guide and help each student in understanding every stage of the college application process. At the end of this workshop, students will have the potential to have most of the college application process completed. (There are a limited number of seats in this course. This course is open to Jesuit students only.)

Format: In-Person

Pre-requisite: Current Jesuit student entering 12th grade in the fall of 2021

Cost: $250 plus $50 registration fee

Marauder Seminar

June 14 – July 2: 8:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

During this class, the students will begin the summer required reading assignment including taking proper notes, exploring the important plot points, character development and new vocabulary. This helps take the pressure of students AND parents to get this assignment started and help get ready for the exam in the fall. Students will meet and get to know some of the other students who will become their classmates in the fall – starting some of those life-long friendships that they’ll always remember. Students will become more comfortable and ready to start their classes in the fall by getting to know some of their new teachers and expectations as members of the class of 2025. Students will work on organization, proper study habits, and personal accountability. They’ll become familiar with how technology is utilized on campus including how Google Classroom is used to communicate with teachers and how assignments are posted. They’ll review and reinforce important math concepts that they will build on during their career at Jesuit and in college. All of this is geared to make your son’s transition to Jesuit smooth, successful and less stressful.

This class is open to boys who will be entering Jesuit in the Fall of 2021 as freshmen only.

Format: In-Person

Prerequisite: Must be an incoming Jesuit freshman – fall 2021
Cost: $500 plus $50 registration fee
