Weekly Update August 7, 2025
Reminders for the start of school
Parents and Friends,
Welcome to a new school year at Jesuit High School! As we begin our transformative journey, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued partnership and trust in our mission of forming young people who are intellectually competent, open to growth, loving, religious, and committed to doing justice. The start of each year brings with it new opportunities, fresh perspectives, and a renewed sense of purpose. I’m excited to see our students return with energy, curiosity, and a desire to grow not only in knowledge, but also in character and faith.
During the summer months, Jesuit has been busy with an array of summer projects to update our facilities and prepare for the new school year. Students and parents who enter through the Jacob lane side of campus will notice upgraded security with new fences, gates, and cameras. New instructional technology has been installed in all science classrooms in Alumni Hall to finalize the science refresh project. Members of the faculty engaged in dozens of professional development programs to advance their skills and abilities in their craft and/or subject area. We are ready.
At the heart of Jesuit education is the belief that each student is uniquely gifted and called to develop those gifts in service to others. Guided by the Ignatian tradition, our most excellent faculty and staff strive to create a community where academic excellence is an instrument of transformation and growth. These dedicated educators will spend the year re-engaging with a critical aspect of Jesuit education, the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP). The IPP emphasizes a student-centered approach, where learning is both reflective and transformative. We are excited to witness the fruits of this mission-centric work.
St. Ignatius tells us to savor deeply those things that fill and satisfy our soul. I pray that each of you find ways to recognize and savor God’s many blessings. Let us all conclude our summer and enter into this school year with a spirit of gratitude and awe as we once again take up this good work for the Greater Glory of God.
I look forward to the year ahead and all that we will accomplish as a Jesuit school family.
Sincerely,
Michael Wood ’99
Principal
