Update

Attendance is a crucial part of the learning experience for all students.  Throughout the first quarter of this school year, we have experienced a high volume of students arriving at school tardy to begin the day.  In addition to the impact that being late has on the tardy student, a high volume of students trickling into classes has a disruptive impact on the classroom environment for the teachers and other students.  We ask for your assistance in making a conscious effort to help students arrive on campus by 8:00am.  We recognize that traffic patterns and road construction make this a challenge; however, we want all students to have the resources and support at school to continue to be successful academically. 

     Tips

    • Plan to arrive by 8:00am and monitor any impacts to your commute from traffic and/or weather.
    • Help with traffic flow. Utilize the proper pick-up and drop off locations dedicated to each grade level. 
    • Stay informed. Configure attendance notifications from PowerSchool to send you an email if your son misses a class. If you have any questions regarding the recordkeeping of your son’s attendance, please contact Mary Harrison, Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Students via email at mary.harrison@jesuithighschool.org.
    • Report your attendance. Use PowerSchool to request an early dismissal or report absence, late arrival.

    Upcoming holidays include

    • November 11: Veterans Day (Offices Closed)
    • November 24-28: Thanksgiving Holiday (Offices Closed 11/26-11/28)
    • December 22-January 5: Christmas Break (Offices Closed 12/24-12/26, 1/1)

    A quick reminder that Jesuit takes the entire week off for Thanksgiving. We made this change many years ago due to the consistently high absence rates in schools that hold classes on the Monday and Tuesday of this week. We want to stress the importance of all students being in attendance the week before this break and the Monday following. It is important to avoid extending breaks, as our teachers will be collecting work, presenting new material, and giving assessments until the last period on Friday before we go on vacation. The return from this break is also when more formal preparation for finals begins, so we want to ensure students are set up for the greatest chance of success going into Final Exams.
