This new series—in partnership with the Jesuit Alumni Office, and coordinated by Chris Marshall ’03, vice president of the Sacramento 20/30 Club—is open to all alumni.

May 29: Dr. Ed Tauber – Effectively Leveraging Brand Strength 

Edward M. Tauber is the author of “Strategic Brand Extension.” He is the father of brand extension having coined the term in 1979. He developed the first method for researching brand extension ideas. As an expert in new product development, he identified many well-known brand extensions for major corporate clients that generate over a billion dollars a year in sales – and have for over 25 years.

He received a B.A and M.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia and a PhD in Business from Cornell. He worked as Research Director for Nestle’ in Los Angeles and Senior Vice President for Saatchi Advertising in New York. He later became Professor and Chairman of the Marketing Department at USC.

Jun 26: Robert Paylor – Paralyzed to Powerful 

After sustaining a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed, Robert has spent the last eight years defying the odds, relearning how to walk and building a life of purpose and strength. In his book, Paralyzed to Powerful: Lessons from a Quadriplegic’s Journey released May 6, 2025, he shares not only the mindset, tools, and journey that helped him overcome immense physical and emotional challenges, but also how his experience at Jesuit High School and the value of being a Man for Others have shaped his recovery and who he is today. We will welcome Robert back to campus for a talk and book signing on June 26!

[past] Mar 27: David Bland – Testing Business Ideas

Join us for the first of the new Professional Development Speaker Series on March 27 at 6:00 pm in the Jesuit Gym’s Welcome Center. Speaker, author, and advisor David Bland will present “Testing Business Ideas.”

Bland founded Precoil, a bespoke innovation management agency based in Silicon Valley, to help companies iterate faster and scale sooner using lean startup, design thinking, and business model innovation.

Twenty-five autographed books titled “Testing Business Ideas” will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
