Jesuit Lacrosse Opens the Season with Wins at Amador Valley
Saturday, February 24, 2018
To start their challenging 2018 schedule the Jesuit lacrosse teams travelled to Pleasanton to take on the Amador Valley Dons. The Dons finished second in the North Coast Section last season after a 5-7 loss to De La Salle in the championship game. For the Jesuit Marauders this is the second season for new head coaches at the Varsity and JV level.
The JV Marauders controlled their game from start to finish. The score was 5-0 at the end of the first quarter with all five goals scored by different players. Amador Valley scored their only goal during the second quarter making it 8-1 going into halftime. Jesuit scored seven more goals in the second half making the final score 15-1. For Jesuit there were 11 different goal scorers in the game. The Marauders also had some players play multiple positions during the game as they prepare for the season ahead. The game was an excellent opportunity for the JV Marauders to demonstrate their preparedness to compete this season.
At the Varsity level the Marauders answered any questions about their preparedness for the season by quickly scoring three goals against the Dons. Amador Valley answered with three goals of their own to establish the first tie score of the game at 3-3. The score would again be tied at 5-5 as both teams battled hard on offense and defense. The Marauders held an 8-5 lead over the Dons at halftime. Each team tallied three more goals in the third quarter making it 11-8 for the Marauders to start the fourth quarter. Tension built in the fourth as the Dons scored again to make it 11-9. However, that would be as close as the Dons would get. The Marauders scored twice more in the fourth to make the final score 13-9. The first contest of the season was an excellent test for the Marauders as they start their difficult 2018 schedule.
Join your Jesuit Marauders as they host Bellarmine College Prep for the first home game of the 2018 season on Saturday, March 3rd. Varsity plays at 12noon followed by JV at 2pm in the Hanson McClain Advisors Stadium at Jesuit High School.
