Track Competes in Double Dual with Sheldon and Davis

Last week the track team battled against two Delta League rivals in a double dual meet on Wednesday.  Jesuit defeated Sheldon and narrowly lost to Davis.  Top marks from the meet were Elliot Raskin in the pole vault(14′7″), Isaiah Rutherford in the 100(11.27), and the 4 x 100 relay team of Jacob Wong, Elijah Beverly, Ashton Retodo, and Rutherford (42.94)  On Friday and Saturday, invited athletes competed at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational in southern California.  On Friday, Colin Ryan competed in the 3200, and the team of David Vincent, Todd Russell, Gabriel Lovely, and Chase Gordon competed in the 4 x 800 relay(9th, 8:13.12). On Saturday Josh Gillis finished in 4th place in the decathlon setting a school record in the process(6136 pts).  Raskin competed in the pole vault finishing 3rd in the open division(14′3″).  Sebastian Garcia competed in the invitational discus throw and finished 16th(163′2″).  Sophomore Matt Strangio continued to impress running in the invitational 3200 against a national field and finished 17th, nearly cracking the 9 minute barrier(9:00.20).  That time ranks Strangio #3 in the state of California.
