Varsity wins 7-6
JV loses 4-6

For their first home game of the 2018 season the Jesuit lacrosse team hosted Bellarmine College Prep from San Jose. The Varsity Marauders entered the game still stinging from last season’s overtime loss to the Bells. The tough competition was signified by the low score. The score would be tied at 1-1, 4-4, and 5-5. The Marauders fell behind for the first time in the game during the fourth quarter at 6-5. We scored the next two goals to take the lead 7-6 with five minutes left to play. The Bells put forth a great effort to tie the score but the Marauder defense was able to hold them back. Jesuit won the game 7-6 following a great battle by both teams.

The JV Jesuit Marauders took on a more than worthy opponent from Bellarmine for their home opener. The game included tough competition and the impact of occasional rain and hail. The game started out with the Bells putting up two goals in the first quarter. The Marauders answered back before the quarter ended making the score 1-2. In the second quarter, the hail commenced and the boys pushed through and scored four goals back and forth. Bellarmine led 3-4 with 2 minutes left in the half. Bellarmine posted one more goal before the half ended. In the third quarter, the defense held on both sides with neither team scoring. Going into the fourth quarter, the Marauders scored bringing the game to within one point at 4-5. Bellarmine quickly answered back and added to their lead with a goal 35 seconds later to make the score 4-6. Both teams fought back and forth the next 5 minutes for control of the ball. Bellarmine won the game with a final score of 4-6.

Varsity plays at 7:30pm on Tuesday, March 6th at Oak Ridge. The JV game is at 5:30pm.
