You are invited to an upcoming Jesuits West CORE Zoom event titled “Discerning Solidarity.” This event will take place on Tuesday, February 2 at 6 PM, and it will include a panel and conversation seeking to understand the Catholic commitment to solidarity. It will be an opportunity to explore how we navigate the complications and tensions of participating in social justice movements while maintaining fidelity to our Catholic identities and teaching. The panel will include the following people:

  • Bishop Robert McElroy of the Diocese of San Diego
  • Bishop Mark J. Seitz of the Diocese of El Paso
  • Professor Cecilia Gonzalez-Andrieu, Associate Professor of Theological Studies, Loyola Marymount University
  • Father Ted Penton, SJ, Secretary of the Office of Justice and Ecology at the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States
  • Dr. Mary J. Wardell-Ghirarduzzi, Vice Provost for Diversity Engagement and Community Outreach, University of San Francisco
