Pope Francis, first Jesuit to lead Catholic Church, dies at 88

News

It is with profound sorrow that Jesuit High School Sacramento joins the global Church in mourning the passing of our Holy Father, Pope Francis. As a humble servant of Christ, he embodied the very essence of faith, compassion, and justice, inspiring us all with his unwavering commitment to the Gospel.

As a Jesuit Catholic school, we give thanks for his leadership and his tireless advocacy for the poor, the marginalized, and the dignity of all people. We pray for the Church, the worldwide Jesuit community, his successor, and the eternal rest of his soul.

Let us pray to be inspired by his example of service to the church and the world, shown by his love and care for the least and the marginalized. May we all be humbled by his courage, his commitment, and his inimitable humility.  What a role model for all of us as we seek to live lives of faithfulness and love.  May his legacy continue to guide us as faculty, staff, and students all strive to be “Men and Women for Others.”

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
