Jesuit hunts the falcons on the soccer pitch
Jesuit High School Sacramento’s varsity soccer defeated rival Christian Brothers High School on Dec. 9, with a final score of 1-0 in a closely contested game.
It was a defensive game until the last five minutes when Eli Stallings ’27 sent a shot into the net for the game winning goal.
“It was electric, watching my boys score that goal, and watching the crowd go crazy,” said left back Jace Bassett ’26.
While this goal was the flashy highlight, Jesuit’s defensive play was the real star of the game. The defense has been so consistent this season that they have not let up a goal in four games.
However, the defense did not have it easy. Christian Brothers’s striker has led the team with five goals this season, but that didn’t matter: Jesuit’s defense locked him down and stopped him from having an impact on this game.
Jesuit lost to Rocklin 1-0, in the first game of the Sierra Foothill League play, but plans to turn the page and focus on their next game at home against the Folsom Bulldogs on Dec 16th at 5:30 p.m.
