On Nov. 29, 2025, the Jesuit High School Sacramento cross country won their 11th state championship, and set a new course record for boys Division II.

The cross country squad performed exceptionally well last season, winning multiple titles and the CIF State Cross Country Championships. In order to compete at the same level, the team took multiple steps to ensure another solid year.

“The preparation was good,” said cross country runner Isaac Abbott ’26. “We’ve been working all summer for this [win], and then throughout the year, and it’s a culmination of four years of work. Everyone was healthy and felt ready to go.”

Continuing the momentum from a solid 2024 season, the cross country team had one main goal headed into the winter.

“The team goal was definitely to go back to back and win the state again,” said runner Kyle Jakary ’26.

Kyle feels appreciative to have been a part of this record-setting team.

“Jesuit’s a really storied program, so it’s a big honor to have the title as the fastest team. and also be one of the fastest team fastest teams ever in California,” Kyle said. “It’s pretty awesome and [I’m] super grateful.”

With back-to-back state titles under their belt, the cross country team has now qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals, where they have set their sights on taking home the school’s first cross country national title.

“We’re gonna go out on race day and we know what to expect,” Isaac Abbott ’26 said. “So we’re confident that we can go out and compete with anybody.”

Jesuit will race at Nike Cross Nationals on Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m., where they will be competing for Jesuit’s very first national cross country title. You can watch the race on the live broadcast on runnerspace.com.
