Teddy Rios ’26: a “Man for Others”
Theodore “Teddy” Rios ’26 is a quiet yet remarkable leader on Jesuit’s campus. From being the starting quarterback of the varsity football team to being a reliable brother, his dependability and sincerity has shone throughout his high school career.
“Teddy is one of the most honest and trustworthy people I know,” said Demare Moragne ’26. “There are some things that I have never told anyone except for Teddy because I know I can trust him.”
Teddy’s uniquely poised leadership is what makes him stand out from other students on campus.
“I try to lead by example – through effort, attitude, and consistency,” Teddy said. “Leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice, but about earning trust and supporting others. My philosophy is to hold myself to a high standard first and help bring others up with me, especially during challenging moments.”
Although the football program experienced many challenges this year, Teddy didn’t waver in the face of adversity, leading to a more successful season.
“One moment that stands out to me is when [Teddy] was asked to share his quarterback role with a teammate for the betterment of the team,” Coach Blanton said. “[He] handled the situation with remarkable grace and maturity. He prioritized the team’s goals over his own and offered full support to his fellow player. That selflessness speaks volumes about his character and emotional intelligence.”
Teddy wants to be remembered for more than just being an athlete at Jesuit, but as a role model for the next generation of Marauders.
“I would like to be remembered as a true ‘Man For Others’, inspiring the next generation of young men to become something greater than themselves,” Teddy said. “I want to be remembered as someone who paved the way for all the boys who will walk these halls after me. Showing generosity and compassion, and mentoring through experience.”
