The Wrap: Jesuit defeats Bishop Manogue under the lights

The Jesuit Marauders started off their season with a 16-point win on Friday night against the Bishop Manogue Miners.

Jesuit started the game with a 65 yard run to the endzone by running back Alan Cordano ’25 to give the Marauders a 7-0 lead.

The Miners quickly responded with a 29 yard touchdown pass tying the game at 7-7. Jesuit was able to score another touchdown before the quarter ended, on a 21 yard run by running back Drew Vassar ’24.

Jesuit opened the second quarter by forcing the Miners to punt, which they followed with an offensive push, ending with a 7 yard touchdown pass from quarterback CJ Lee ’24 to tight end Cooper Babb ’24, making the score 21-7.

With nine minutes to go in the half, Jesuit’s defense forced a fourth down. The offense complemented the defense by securing an 11 yard touchdown run from Drew Vassar, making the score 28-7 at the half.

The third quarter started slow until a missed snap by Bishop Monogue on special teams netted Jesuit a safety, expanding the lead to 30-7 Marauders. Jesuit held the Miners off for the rest of the quarter, closing out with a sack from defensive end Payton Coss ’24.

Bishop Monogue narrowed Jesuit’s lead with a fourth quarter rushing touchdown, making it a 16 point game. Neither team scored again, resulting in a 30-14 Jesuit win.

CJ Lee finished the game having completed 12 of 18 pass attempts for 223 yards and a touchdown, as well as 39 yards rushing. Wide receiver, safety, and place kicker Caleb Dixon ’24 had 3 receptions for 116 yards, was four for four on extra points, and had one interception.
