Staying Connected – August 14
We Come Together as a Community of Faith, of Family, of God

Update

We call upon God in the midst of uncertainty and anxiety and fear,

but that we always look through the lens of hope and trust.

Hope and trust in the God who calls us all together

Who missions us…

as we come together (to begin our school year) as a community of faith, of family, of God.

—Rev. John P. McGarry, S.J., President

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

Welcome to the students and parents of our Freshman Class, and welcome back to our returning students and parents.

We gather for another school year in the context of the challenging realities of the Coronavirus pandemic and the call and quest for greater racial justice and equality in our world. These two realities will help to frame our work during this academic year. In every context, our core mission as a school in the Catholic and Jesuit tradition remains the same:  the education and formation of the whole person— mind, body, soul and spirit. It is our pledge to you, as always, to strive to do our best in providing this integrated approach in our school program, whether it is in the remote learning context or here on our beautiful campus.

Many years back, a friend of mine, when receiving an award in recognition of being an example of living his Jesuit education as a Man for Others, talked about his approach to life and living, relating and working. He said:  “I choose to live courageously, faithfully and joyfully.” May that also be our way of proceeding this year: to be courageous, faithful, and joyful in all of our endeavors.

As we begin this school year, I wholeheartedly thank you for your confidence, your support and your partnership. God bless you and your families, and God bless Jesuit High School Sacramento.

Gratefully,

Rev. John P. McGarry, S.J.
President
