Staying Connected – April 30

Parents and Friends,

The Jesuit faculty, staff, and administration had a wonderful time personally delivering lawn signs to the members of the Class of 2020 at their homes today. More than 50 Jesuit employees volunteered to participate.  We were also able to use this event to announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2020.

Congratulations to Valedictorian Donghwan Park and Salutatorian Jonathan Fong. The Valedictorian will have the honor of writing and delivering a farewell address to his classmates and the Salutatorian will write and give the opening prayer; these will be filmed and will be shown in the graduation video we anticipate premiering at the Drive-in Graduation event; more details on when and where you can see this video are forthcoming.

Plans to Return to School in August

We are pleased to announce that we expect to return to school this August as planned in our traditional schedule. You may have heard Governor Newsom state earlier this week that some California public schools are considering an early return to school in July to account for the significant amount of lost instructional time. Jesuit High School Sacramento does not share this concern, given our quick transition to remote learning and the commitment of our students, parents, and teachers. Academic Departments have already started to reflect on ways to best support students when we transition students back to in-person teaching and learning.

Jesuit is also preparing for the possibility that we may need to adjust various practices and procedures on campus and in the classroom as we follow health and safety guidelines for schools to ensure a safe return. As the 2020-21 school year approaches, we will communicate all relevant details to families in a timely manner. We are hopeful that Jesuit Sacramento will be a place where a return to normal can begin.

To support our students wishing to review or to gain new ground, Summer at Jesuit High School’s offerings have transitioned to online courses and are now open for registration.

Our next update will be on Thursday, May 7 and further regular updates will continue weekly every Thursday.
