On Saturday, Oct. 7, Jesuit High School Sacramento will celebrate its 60th anniversary during the Alumni Reunion Weekend.

Jesuit plans to celebrate this milestone with a gathering called “The Big Bash.” This event will include many fun activities for alumni and all members of the Jesuit community.

Alumni Chaplain Father Edwin Harris, S.J. is impressed with how far Jesuit has progressed within the last 60 years.

“[This] anniversary [is] the beginning of the school, which opened in September of 1963 to one class of 99 freshmen,” Fr. Harris said.

Director of Auctions and Events Ms. Kimberly Kalmbach is excited to welcome alumni back to campus and hopes they will be able to reconnect with each other.

“[Most of the event] will be socializing and dancing to the music,” Ms. Kalmbach said. “We’re going to have live music, the band playing, different food stations, a photo booth, and fun lawn games; it’s just a big community party.”

In addition to celebrating Jesuit’s 60th anniversary, this event also celebrates Jesuit’s class of 1973 with their 50 year reunion.

“[Class of ’73 alumns] will have their own special area where they’re going to gather, have a meal, and then we present them with what we call their golden diplomas [which] signifies their 50 years from graduating from Jesuit,” Ms. Kalmbach said.

Fr. Harris is eager to share Jesuit’s progress with those who haven’t been back on campus in a long time, and he hopes the event helps them remember their high school experience.

“If you invite people back more frequently, hopefully they’ll tap into something; tapping into the memories,” Fr. Harris said. “It’s kinda like a look and see: ‘do you remember, and will you help us continue?’ We’re hoping people will tap into their good memories.”

As Jesuit’s 60th anniversary nears, everyone is encouraged to sign up and join in on this important celebration.

“I just think it’s a great opportunity to open up our campus to as many people as possible that are Jesuit supporters,” Ms. Kalmbach said. “We have such a strong network, such a large Jesuit community, and to open up the campus to celebrate achievements of not only the school but all the people and students that have gone to the school.”
