The Jesuit High School Sacramento varsity basketball team played Folsom High School on Jan. 14 and Archbishop Riordan High School on Jan. 16.

Jesuit lost to Folsom by a score of 68-47; however, they followed up the loss with a win against a skilled and well-coached ARHS team by a score of 63-52.

Head Coach Timothy Kelly spoke on how this stretch of games contrasted in terms of how the team played and responded to the competition.

“They were two different games,” Coach Kelly said. “We did not play well against Folsom, but credit to them; they’re a good team, and I think we played really well against Riordan. We defended and rebounded way better than we did on Saturday.”

Following these two games, Jesuit took on Cosumnes Oaks High School, defeating them by a score of 74-50.

Guard Reid Jones ’23 weighs in on the well-earned win with regard to the team’s energy throughout the game.

“We started off slow,” Reid said. “But after a while, I think we got it going and we ultimately just battled it out and won.”

On Jan. 20, Jesuit will be playing an away game against Delta League counterpart Franklin High School. Reid assures that the game will be lively and loud because of the atmosphere that FHS brings to the table.

“We usually play them [FHS] on their homecoming night, so they always have a crowd and it’s fun,” Reid said. “It’ll be a good environment to play in.”

Make sure to come out for the game against FHS at 7:30 p.m. and show some school spirit for our Marauders in this sure-to-be-exciting away game.
