On Friday, Sept. 26, Jesuit High School Sacramento will be hosting the Big Red Golf Tournament at Haggin Oaks at 9 a.m. The golf tournament functions as a communal event for alumni, current parents, and the greater Jesuit community to come together and reignite memories with friends.

Director of Admissions Mr. Matthew Ramos ’05, Director of Athletics/Physical Education Department Chair Mr. Hank Weinberger, and other Jesuit staff are overseeing the tournament. This team intends to set the stage to show how the tournament is more than a fundraiser, but a communal tradition for future years to come.

“I would say it’s more than a fundraiser,” Mr. Ramos said. “A fundraiser implies that we’re trying to make money to donate back to the school. We’re trying to create community and culture out of this particular golf tournament.”

This tournament is a special event, allowing past Marauders to reunite over a game of golf. This is made possible by the new help from other Jesuit staff and cooperation from other departments.

“I give a ton of credit to our new team,” Mr. Weinberger said. “Last year, it was Mr. Ramos and I running it, and we had help from the advancement office in the marketing communications department, but with Josh Rojas ’00, our alumni director, and his new role, Mr. LeBouef and his new role as alumni Chaplain, and then most recently, Liz Henning with events [...] all of them have been a huge help and we really look forward to another great event.”

This newly established tradition will provide an outlet for the Jesuit community to connect, unearth memories and meet new people. Parents and alumni are encouraged to visit the tournament to enjoy good company, food and drinks.
