Jesuit High School Sacramento is hosting its annual Frosh/Soph Open Dance this Saturday, Oct. 14 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Fr. Barry Gymnasium.

The Frosh/Soph Open Dance brings together students from Jesuit, St. Francis High School, Christian Brothers High School, and Cristo Rey High School to build upon new and existing relationships with one another as students get more comfortable with high school life.

Sophomore President, Emmett Gustorf  ’26, wants students to use this opportunity to catch up with friends from different high schools as life starts to get more hectic.

“It can be difficult to see friends from other schools when everybody is so busy with school, sports, and activities, so events such as the Jesuit Frosh/Soph dance make it a little easier,” Emmet said.

Student Activities Director Mr. Peter Ferrari encourages Freshmen and Sophomores to attend the event to kickoff the start of a new school year.

“[The dance is] a chance to celebrate the beginning of the year, have fun, and build connections,” Mr. Ferrari said. “Join us for a night of community building, laughter, and fun. I look forward to seeing students from all schools come together and make this year’s dance a memorable success.”

Emmet wants this year’s dance to be a brand new experience for new students.

“[The theme is] any 80s’ [decade] from past, present, or future (1780s, 1980s, 3080s, etc),” Emmet said. “We decided on this theme because we wanted to try something new, rather than going to one of the easier themes such as ‘Neon’ or ‘Tropical.’”

The Frosh/Soph Open Dance is a great way for students to roll into the new school year. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online.
