Jesuit Auction: getting together to give back
This year’s Jesuit High School Sacramento Auction and Gala, the Starlight Soiree, will be hosted on Sat., March 21 in the Fr. Barry Gym. The goal of this auction is to raise funds for various operations on campus.
“We raise money to support our current operations and current tuition assistance,” said Fundraising Event Manager Ms. Elizabeth Henning. “So all the money raised goes to support our vital programs, our academics, our co-curriculars, our retreats, our faculty and staff development programs, and our tuition assistance program.”
The auction and gala is a tradition that dates back 54 years, inviting members of the Jesuit High School community to come together on campus to support the school. This sense of togetherness and mutual love of the school is a core element of the event.
“People show up; it’s a community builder,” said President Mr. Chris Alling. “They reconnect. We’re beginning the auction this year with Mass in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs at five o’clock, and then the evening starts after that. It’s really a time to get people back together.”
The goal of this year’s auction is the same as always: to make Jesuit more affordable for the student body, as well as to improve upon the current facilities offered.
“The greatest common factor or denominator that we have in that room is a desire to keep an education at Jesuit High School affordable and accessible to qualified [students],” President Alling said.
The Jesuit Auction is absolutely critical in supporting the student body and faculty, and you can support the effort by visiting the auction website here.
