Jesuit dunks on CB in Holy Hoops
On Saturday, Jan. 10, Jesuit High School Sacramento and Christian Brothers High School played against each other in the annual Holy Hoops game hosted at the Golden One Center. The electrifying game ended with a big 65-39 win in favor of Jesuit.
The first quarter began with back-and-forth scoring possessions, until Jesuit’s offense overwhelmed the Falcons with solid on-and-off ball movement. This allowed the Marauders to grow their lead to 19-11 at the end of the first quarter.
Although Jesuit’s offense generated a sound lead, their defensive game in the second quarter is what allowed the team to truly pull ahead. Jesuit managed to hold the Falcons to only 11 points in the second quarter while extending their lead to 14, ending the half at 36-22.
At the beginning of the second half, CB started getting in their defensive rhythm, holding Jesuit under 15 points, the lowest they scored in a quarter. Although the Marauders struggled to find their momentum offensively, their defense still thrived, holding the Falcons to only 10 points. This left Jesuit with a 50-32 lead as they headed into the final quarter.
Riding the momentum they built up to this point in the game, Jesuit was able to go into the final quarter with effort and confidence. They held Christian Brothers to their lowest points scored in a quarter, at just 7 points. From there, they coasted to the final score of 65-39, avenging last year’s previous loss.
Jesuit now moves to 10-6 with a perfect 3-0 record in league play. The Marauders next game is Wednesday, Jan. 14, on the road against the 10-7 Rocklin Thunder.
