On March 18, 2025, the Jesuit High School Sacramento varsity baseball team started a three-game series against the Oak Ridge High School Trojans. Then, following a hard-fought 2-1 series win, the Marauders would get tested yet again against the Folsom High School Bulldogs, in a series starting on March 24.

The Marauders used a combination of strong hitting from shortstop Sammy Kane ’26 and first baseman Cade Colombara ’25 and impressive pitching performances from Owen Lesser ’26 and Alex Quigley ’26 to win 5 out of the 6 games.

The first matchup of the Oak Ridge series was a pitching showdown, with neither team being able to score at their usual pace. Oak Ridge was able to pull away in the second inning, scoring the lone two runs of the game from two singles. The Marauders failed to score through the final innings and lost the first game of the series. Outfielder Petey Palko ’25 had a notable performance, reaching base all three times he was at bat.

In game two, Oak Ridge picked up where they left off in the second game, scoring a run in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead. Neither team was able to score until the sixth inning, when the Marauders scored two runs to get their first lead of the series, 2-1. The Trojans quickly responded in the bottom of the sixth, scoring a run and tying the game 2-2. However, Jesuit scored three runs in extra innings, taking a 5-2 lead and stealing a thrilling game.

With the series tied 1-1, Jesuit traveled to Oak Ridge, where they would quickly score runs in the first and second innings, taking a 3-1 lead. The Trojans struck back, scoring four runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 5-3 lead.

Down two runs in the final inning of the game, Jesuit managed to score two runs and send the game into extra innings. In the eighth inning, neither team would score, adding another extra inning. The Marauders offense exploded in the ninth inning, tallying five runs with the defense only allowing two, giving Jesuit the win 10-7. Sammy was the player of the game, going 5 for 5 in his at-bats with a homerun and four doubles.

In the first game of the Folsom series, Jesuit got out to an early lead, driving in three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Folsom responded with an explosive third inning, scoring four runs and taking the lead before Jesuit took it back with a run in each of the next three innings. Folsom would be unable to score for the rest of the game, and Jesuit would win game one of the series 6-4.

In the second game, the score was tied 1-1 going into the fourth inning, until the Marauders scored five runs, gaining a 6-1 lead. In the next two innings, Jesuit would score 3 more runs before Folsom began their offensive barrage, scoring six runs in the final two innings. It wasn’t enough as the Marauders took the second game of the series 11-8.

In the final game, Folsom would start off well with one run in the first inning. Throughout the rest of the game, Jesuit would continue to tally runs, winning the final game of the series 10-1 and sweeping Folsom 3-0 to improve to 10-3 overall and 5-3 in league play.

Sammy had several great hitting performances, going 11 for 22 at bat in the two series. Jesuit’s pitching also showed through, with impressive games from Eric Erdmann ’25 and Sammy. In the final game of the sixth-game stretch, Eric pitched six innings, allowed zero runs, and struck out ten batters.
