On Friday, Oct. 31, the Jesuit High School Sacramento varsity football team defeated the Whitney High School Wildcats 38-17, ending the regular season off with a strong victory.

The Marauders hit the ground running early, taking a 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to a pair of rushing touchdowns from running back Miles Hubbard ’26.

Whitney fought hard to respond in the second quarter, but the Marauders’ offense continued to find the end zone with a passing touchdown from Quarterback Teddy Rios ’26 to wide receiver Saevion Sorensen ’26, giving Jesuit a 24-10 lead going into halftime.

The second half was much of the same from the Jesuit offense and defense, as the Marauders closed out the game 38-17.

Jesuit now has a 6-4 overall record,  and finishes 3-3 in league play. The Marauders earned the number 5 seed in the Division 2 Sac Joaquin Football Section Championships.

They look to build off their big win when they play at St. Mary’s High School. The matchup promises to be exciting, featuring St. Mary’s strong rushing offense that averages nearly 200 yards per game and has almost 2000 total rushing yards this year.

Last year’s playoffs ended with a disappointing loss to Grant High School, so the team is sure to be back and ready to fight. They’ve beaten strong teams this season and suffered some tough losses, but if they play at their best, it will be hard to eliminate the Marauders from the playoffs.
