On Sept. 30, 2023, Jesuit High School Sacramento hosted its annual Homecoming dance with a glitzy Hollywood theme. For one night, the Fr. Barry gymnasium was transformed with dazzling decorations, complete with red carpet entrances and decor reminiscent of classic Hollywood glamor. Students arrived dressed as if they were fabulous movie stars, adding a touch of magic to the event.

The night was a resounding success, with students enjoying the enchanting ambiance and engaging in lively dance beneath the shimmering lights. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and laughter as students embraced the Hollywood theme, making the evening truly unforgettable.

“Homecoming went really well; I had a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it,” said Brady McMains ’26. “You could hang out with your friends, hang out with your date, and I think it was cool that some people were there without dates and still had a great time.

In the midst of the glitz and glamor of Jesuit’s Hollywood-themed Homecoming dance, it was the collective effort of the students that truly brought the event to life. Their dedication and creativity were evident in the dazzling decorations and the vibrant atmosphere that enveloped the Fr. Barry gymnasium.

“My students really did a good job of getting the word out for Homecoming,” said Director of Student Activities Mr. Ferrari. “They did a great job with all the decorations, choosing a theme, and making the theme effective and something that was fun for people.”

The student council put a lot of thought into the theme for Homecoming; they wanted to make it as inclusive as possible.

“We were thinking about what potential themes were,” said Head of Student Activities Ryan Bassett ’24. “There were a lot of good suggestions, but we decided Hollywood was a simple theme, that a lot of people could partake in it and get good participation out of it.”

The theme turned out to be a great addition, making the event even more memorable than previous Homecomings since previous Homecomings didn’t have themes.

“I don’t think we had a theme last year, so I thought that that was a fun addition, adding that theme,” Mr. Ferrari said. “I think that in that respect, it enhanced it and perhaps set the tone for future Homecomings, that we can do something like this.”

This year’s Homecoming was a successful night. The efforts of everyone involved in its development paid off to make Jesuit’s 2023 Homecoming a night to remember.
