TeamCARE offers vital resources

Taking care of mental health and prioritizing well-being can help students cope with stress, achieve more academically, and just live happier and healthier lives.

TeamCARE at Jesuit High School Sacramento is a club that was formed by students to focus on the mental health of members in our community and to bring awareness to resources available to everyone, such as the Wellness Center and the suicide and crisis lifeline prevention line: 988.

One of TeamCARE’s Leaders, Dylan McMains ’23, prioritizes promoting such resources.

“TeamCARE’s mission is to destigmatize mental health,” Dylan said. “We need to get a certain message out there about these resources, like 988. Really put that out there and let people know.”

Freshman class representative Tyler Wood ’26 believes in the importance of TeamCARE’s mission.

“We [at TeamCARE] really put others’ needs before our own and really make sure everyone has a good mental state along with our own mental state,” Tyler said. “Mental health is really a priority.”

The Wellness Center next to the King Library is one of TeamCARE’s biggest resources on campus. Tyler recognizes the safe and welcoming atmosphere in this center that’s available to all faculty and students during the day.

“It’s a very supportive environment,” Tyler said. “[There’s a] very supportive group; you aren’t gonna be judged and along with that, you’re going to walk away with a better mental state.”

TeamCARE has a spot for everyone to come and share their talents to help foster a mentally and physically healthier Jesuit community. Dylan welcomes and encourages all students to join or to just check out their club.

“Everyone is welcome!” Dylan said. “I do want to add that we take into account everyone […] their abilities, needs, and where they’re at.  For example, if you’re really into graphic design and you love graphic design and you want to put kindness out into the community, you can design a poster for us.”

TeamCARE is an essential club in our community that spreads kindness and mental health resources to all. If you want to learn more, TeamCARE meets in the Wellness Center on Thursdays during lunch.
