Exam Reminders

Exam Schedule (Updated)

  • First exam of each day begins at 8:30am
  • Second exam begins at 11:15am

One change is that students will be able to submit work and leave the exam rooms after 60 minutes. Standard time for exams will continue to be 90 minutes, and students who qualify for extended time will be able to use that accommodation as always. Students who complete work and leave before the end of the 90 minute standard time exam period must go to the Library, Harris Center, or leave campus.

Standard Expectations

We encourage all students to be attentive to all directions from the PA and the exam proctor.

  • Plan on arriving on campus at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of your final exam and report to your testing room 10 minutes before the start of the exam (see the posted final exam schedule for specific room assignments). download full exam schedule
  • You may not access a phone or use any electronic device during any exam period (even if you finish early) unless specifically approved by your teacher for use during the exam. Cell phones should be powered off upon entry to the testing room. Any other unapproved materials should be stored away in your backpack.
  • No food or drink, including water, is allowed at your desk during testing. If you have more than one exam, you should plan on having food and drink between exams.
  • Make sure to follow all test-taking procedures and instructions given by your proctor upon arrival and while testing is taking place.
  • If you miss an exam due to illness or an athletic event, make-up/conflict exams are offered each day during final exam week. Note for reasons of test security that you cannot take an exam early.

We will continue to enforce these standard expectations as outlined on page 38 of the Student-Parent Handbook.

Testing Uninterrupted (New)

Additionally, we are setting a new expectation that students take exams uninterrupted. This means that once materials have been distributed and the exam has begun, students are not allowed to leave the exam room to use the restroom, get water, etc., until the first 60 minutes of the exam period is completed and all testing materials have been submitted to the proctor. Our hope is that the slightly later start compared to a typical school day (8:30 rather than 8:20) and the considerable break between exams will allow ample time for students to use the restroom, eat, etc. prior to starting any of their exams. Students with an accommodation for taking breaks as needed have been contacted regarding how they will access that accommodation. If there is an emergent need to leave the testing room for any reason before the completion of the exam (or before the 60 minute mark of the exam period), proctors will refer the student to the Dean’s Office for assistance.  Students that leave the exam room after beginning the exam will not be allowed to return to the testing room.

Reminder of Jesuit’s Final Exam Attendance Policy

As articulated in the Student-Parent Handbook, no student may take an early final examination. Delayed semester examinations require proof of illness or verified family emergency.  Students with an unexcused absence from a final exam will be assessed a penalty of at least 10% on the final exam or project at the discretion of the Dean of Students. Delayed semester exams must be taken during the make-up testing time designated by the Assistant Principal for Academics. Grades on finals after this designated makeup time will be assigned a zero. Any questions regarding final exams should be directed to the Office of Academics.

Extended Time Testing

Students with 50% extended time testing accommodations (per their Academic Support Plans) will test with the rest of their class and may continue working after the conclusion of the posted exam time to allow them their allotted time to finish. Students with additional testing accommodations will receive instructions regarding where to report for testing from Mrs. Rose in the Academic Support Center.
