Weekly Update – May 5
Using good practices now to ensure we enjoy safe end-of-year events

Update

Over the last few weeks, there have been reports of a small uptick in COVID cases throughout the Sacramento region and in a few local schools. As has usually been the case, we have also seen a similar uptick in cases reported amongst our community.

We want to remind you of several key practices that can help everyone in our community to remain safe from COVID so we can enjoy and celebrate our upcoming events:

  1. Masking, particularly in indoor settings, is one way you can protect yourself and others from the spread of COVID. Please remember that masks are strongly encouraged but not required at school events.
  2. If you are experiencing any symptoms—chills, sore throat, fever, headache, congestion, sneezing, etc.—don’t assume it is just allergies. Please stay home while symptomatic and take a COVID test. If you are not able to find a COVID test, you can get one by stopping by the nurse’s office on campus at any time during the school day. Your decisions in this regard may potentially impact other students, including Seniors awaiting graduations, who are relying on everyone in our community to do their part to care for each other.
  3. If you do test positive for COVID or come in close contact with someone else that tests positive, please contact Nurse Rifle immediately for guidance.

Given the recent rise in cases, we feel it is important to acknowledge the potential impact of large gatherings that will occur over the next few weeks at Jesuit and other schools in the area. We look forward to celebrating proms, final exams, Baccalaureate, graduation, and several other traditional activities with you in the coming days. However, as we enter the final phase of the school year, it is important for all of us to remember that decisions made today could potentially have consequences 1 to 2 weeks in the future. Class meetings and exams can be made up or rescheduled through communication with teachers, counselors, and the school administration, while events like Baccalaureate mass and graduation are one-time events.

Please take a moment to refresh yourself on COVID health protocols and take precautions as necessary.
